A Pirate's Story

Pirates have been around as long as men have sailed the seven seas. By definition, pirates attack and rob ships at sea while also plundering and invading the coasts of foreign lands. Today's pirates at sea do the same, but we also characterize modern pirates on land who steal and utilize the works of others for profit, as in software pirates. Lady and The Pirate do not condone such behavior and do neither of these. Instead, The Pirate does rob ships at sea. He robs them of their drinks and entertainment for his own pleasure. Lady Michelle is equally guilty of these crimes. They also do a bit of invading foreign lands and sometimes indulge in the taking and plundering of local cuisine and spirits, much to the chagrin of the locals. All vices aside, a pirate's life is a life of ultimate freedom. A pirate ship was often the truest form of democracy and liberty found in the world. A pirate's life was often short and difficult, but also filled with adventure and excitement. The movie "Braveheart" had a great line that applies to life on the sea as a pirate..."Every man dies, but not every man truly lives." Another line comes to mind from a movie, "Highlander", that applies to life as a pirate..."It is better to burn out than to fade away." Pirates truly lived and only a handful through history ever faded away.

"The Pirate", aka "Jeff Alan Rule", is actually Jeff Stacey. Jeff is a late "Baby Boomer", born in the early 1960's, and spent most of his life as a professional musician. He began writing music in the early Eighties and still writes music to this day. Jeff finished his professional musical career in Southeastern, Virginia back in 1997 as a lead singer/pianist/guitarist in a house band known as Diamondback Road. Since then, Jeff performs quite often on cruise ships in karaoke contests, and also in an occasional charity concert. As a songwriter, Jeff has had a good number of his songs professionally recorded, with many uploaded to YouTube as videos. He thoroughly enjoys creating his own music videos to his songs and a good selection of these can be accessed on this page below. From this point forward and all throughout this website, Jeff will be known as "The Pirate", and all songs will be shanties. For more on The Pirate, click one of the three pictures below.
