“A pirate walks into a bar with a parrot on his shoulder, a peg leg, and a steering wheel on his pants. The bartender says...Hey, you’ve got a steering wheel on your pants...And the pirate goes, Arrrgh, I know. It’s driving me nuts.”
Jodi Picoult

Hiking can be hard on a pirate. With only one leg and one hand to hold the hiking poles, pirates are not often spotted out on the trails.
Like the statue of a pirate seen here, The Pirate is no longer in his younger hiking shape. But there was a day The Pirate hiked many a trail and conquered many a mountain. This page is dedicated to those mountains he conquered. Click on the mountains name to visit the AllTrails website of the climb.
As a turtle paced climber, The Pirate had a lot of time to take a lot of pictures during his climbs and he'd like to share ten of those climbs here:
10. View of the Las Vegas Valley from atop Frenchman Mountain in Henderson, Nevada

Frenchman Mountain (2,155 ft.) is just east of Henderson, Nevada and the Las Vegas Valley. Looking down from the top, one can see Nellis Air Force Base and even catch a jet taking off or landing from time to time.
There's a trail to the top, but you can also take the dirt road as well. That's the route The Pirate and Steven Blair took on a brisk December day. Don't think that a dirt road can be any easier than a dirt trail. The road is switch back after switch back and will wear you down. There's two peaks at the top and the second one is the highest.
9. View of the Lake Mead area from atop Black Mountain in Henderson, Nevada
Black Mountain (2,034 ft.) is just south of Henderson, Nevada and the Las Vegas Valley. Looking down from the top, one can see the entire Las Vegas Valley.
There's a trail to the top and a fairly moderate 7 mile round trip 1/2 day climb that, at times, involves a little boulder grabbing that puts it in a class 2 category. Class 2 involves a little light scrambling where one needs to use their hands to help hoist them up.
